Most young children never see a needle

小儿推拿 — Pediatric Tui Na is a gentle, rhythmic Chinese medical massage designed for children. For younger kids it is often the entire treatment.

FAQ

Questions parents usually ask

Does it hurt? My child is terrified of needles.+
Acupuncture needles are about the width of a hair — nothing like a shot. That said, we never push. Children under 7 are usually treated entirely with Tui Na massage, and older kids can choose acupressure instead. Many teens who arrive nervous end up asking for needles by the second visit.
How young is too young?+
We treat from infancy. For babies and toddlers it is Tui Na only — gentle, needle-free massage. Colic, reflux, poor sleep and constipation respond especially well at this age.
Can I stay in the room?+
Yes — for anyone under 18, a parent or guardian stays for the entire visit. That is our policy, not an option.
My teen is already seeing a therapist or on medication. Is this a conflict?+
Not at all. Acupuncture works alongside counselling and prescriptions — it is not a replacement for either. Tell us what they are taking and we will build around it. We never advise stopping a medication; that is a conversation for their prescribing doctor.
How often will we need to come?+
Usually once a week to start, for four to six weeks, then we space it out. During exam season some families come weekly for a stretch and then pause.
Does insurance cover it?+
Often yes. We are in network with UnitedHealthcare and Cigna, and accept HSA/FSA. We verify your child’s benefits free before the first visit — see insurance details.
Do you speak Chinese?+
Yes — Xinyan sees families in both English and Mandarin (中英文服务). Many parents find it easier to describe what is going on at home in their first language.
